Aries Ingeniería y Sistemas makes progress on its Owner’s Engineering (OE) contract signed with CGN Delingha Solar Energy Corporation, after the Chinese CSP developer launched a competitive tender process last year.
The Delingha project, first-of-its-kind in the People’s Republic of China, will be a 50megawatt (MW) concentrated solar thermal power (CSP) plant in the city of Delingha, Qinghai Province. The technology consists on capturing and concentrating the solar energy in an absorbing tube where the heat from the sun is transferred to liquid oil from which vapor is generated. This vapor will be then used to produce electricity in a turbine generator and stored in a molten salts thermal energy storage system with a capacity of 1300 MWh.
The plant will have a solar field of about 190 loops and a capacity of about 200 gigawatt-hours of clean electricity per year. With an expected inauguration next year, this project will be an important milestone for the sector worldwide and especially for the renewable energy industry of the region.
