In Spain we are experiencing a policy of absolute harassment and destruction of the photovoltaic sector, which has taken it to the brink of massive bankruptcy. In recent years we have lost more than 35,000 direct jobs, both in SMEs and in the whole value chain of the domestic industry. This is a national policy that contrasts with the impressive commitment being made by photovoltaic power outside Spain.

The year 2013 closed with a new world record for photovoltaic installation, with 37,000 new MW, and it looks as if 2014 will close with almost 55,000 more MW, i.e., more than 80 new GWh of photovoltaic electricity: figures which, according to some analysts, will double in the next 4 years.

the business booster

Europe has been a pioneer in identifying the benefits of this technology, leading the development of the industry, with countries such as Germany, Italy and recently the UK and France at the forefront. In Spain, a leading industry evolved – an example of the best R&D – which has been exporting its “Made in Spain” technology to countries such as the USA, Germany or Japan, committed to the continued development of the solar photovoltaic industry.
