There is increasing interest in totally or partially electric, energy efficient vehicles. In just a few years, Volvo Buses has positioned itself as global leader in this area. The Swedish manufacturer is clear that the bus of the future has to be sustainable, silent, attractive, within easy reach of its passengers, profitable for its operators and that contributes to the development of urban environments. To achieve this, Volvo is focusing its developments on E-mobility. According to company experts, electricity is 3 times more efficient than gas.
Today there are already around one hundred hybrid buses made by Volvo on Spain’s roads, servicing urban and suburban routes and making the Swedish brand the leading offer of sustainable solutions for Spanish cities. Volvo’s hybrids manage to bring down fuel consumption and emissions by 30% to 40% compared with diesel units, as well as minimising acoustic contamination.
The alternative option from Volvo is the hybrid electric that reduces consumption by up to 75% and emissions by around 60%, in addition to completely silent running while operating in electric mode (70% of the route). Terminus charging time is between 3 and 6 minutes. Read more…
