A year has passed since the publication of the Royal Decree on energy certification and the Plan to Foster Refurbishment, Urban Regeneration and Renewal 2013-2016.This is the time to act.Energy certification has been a fiasco that has failed to meet expected targets, so we should not follow the same path in refurbishment.
In this direction, and after the impact of the RENOVE Madrid Rio project, the College of Architects of Madrid (COAM) felt that a similar initiative should be taken in the tertiary sector.
Within this sector, hotels represent an area with high energy consumption in both HVAC and lighting. In a hotel this consumption can account for over 60% of energy used and up to 10% of total operating costs.
