Energy needs in Brazil

The Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) has confirmed the weekly purchase of energy from Argentina and Uruguay, as well as the need to buy from its neighbours. It has also declared the need to buy energy originating from alternative sources this year.

Brazil, with huge opportunities for bilateral cooperation, met with the Bolivian authorities to discuss possibilities for an energy exchange with Bolivia. The Bolivian Minister of Hydrocarbons and Energy, Luis Alberto Sánchez Fernández, had a meeting with the Brazilian Minister of Mines and Energy, Eduardo Braga. The aim of the meeting was to discuss ways to stimulate the exchange of energy between the countries, to increase energy security in the region and to benefit both nations.

During the meeting, Minister Eduardo Braga confirmed to Sánchez that the gas available in Bolivia could be important for resuming economic growth in Brazil.
