GES to work with Gamesa on the installation of a 4.5-MW wind farm in Finland

Gamesa has chosen GES to support them in assembling the turbines that the manufacturer is installing in Pori (Finland). The plant is composed by 12 units of the G128 – 4,5 MW model. The dimensions of the generators, with a hub-height of 140 metres, together with the special weather conditions make this a very challenging project.
This is the first commercial wind farm where Gamesa installs this model and GES will support the manufacturer during the installation and commissioning phases, thus cooperating in the consolidation of the assembly procedures.[sam_block id=”10″ name=”Banner central 728x90px”]
There will be two installation teams in the Scandinavian country, and the first one is already on site. The snow is about to come so the technicians have received specific training and personal protective equipment for very low temperatures. After having executed rotor blade repairs in the past, this is the first turbine installation project that GES willcarry out in Finland where weather conditions will highly influence the project execution. In December temperatures in Pori may reach -30ºC and the windchill factor at 140 metres height may go down as much as -55ºC. This will lead to adapt the work organization by increasing the shift rotation to compensate the extra efforts.
