Iberdrola has awarded the wind turbines in two Mexican wind farms to Gamesa. The farms will be built over the next few years: Pier IV and Santiago Eólico.
These two wind power projects account for 325,5 MW of installed capacity. Iberdrola has recently been selected for these projects through long-term contracts (PPAs) with private industrial customers, which Iberdrola will provide power to.
As per the contracts, Gamesa will supply (manufacture and install) 134 latest-generation wind turbines for these two installations.
The first contract provides for the installation and start-up of 84 turbines, G114-2,625 MW (220.5 MW) model, at the Pier IV wind farm in Puebla. The wind turbines are scheduled for delivery in early 2018 and the farm’s start-up date is March 2019.
The second agreement allows for the supply of 50 G114-2.1MW (105 MW) turbines at the Santiago Eólico wind farm in the Mexican state of Guanajuato. In this case, the wind turbines will be installed in the second half of 2018 and the wind farm will begin operations in April 2019.
