More gas in the cities

    The gas industry Annual Meeting has just taken place in which it was demonstrated that the sector is undergoing interesting times. Many opportunities are open to gas as it is a traditional energy with favourable environmental characteristics that also offers economic advantages compared to other alternatives. To these two elements must be added a scenario of regulatory stability that allows actively-working businesses in Spain plan for the long-term.

    Spain’s recent elections revealed that one of the issues of most interest to tomorrow’s political leaders, above all in the case of the large cities, is to improve air quality. At global level, both CO2 and particles emissions, constitute an element that has a significant impact on the health of the population.

    In this context, gas offers a great opportunity, both in traditional uses for heating and cooling as well as thermal energy in the domestic-commercial sector and also its use in industry, such as both land and sea transportation. It is worth remembering that at local level, gas is the fuel that has the least CO2 emissions, solid particles, airborne organic compounds and persistent organic contaminants. Read more…
