Surtidor Project: advanced DC ultrafast charging infrastructure for e-mobility

E-mobility is becoming a real solution as a sustainable new model in the transport sector. In Spain this sector is responsible for 30% of carbon emissions and consumes 40% of energy generated. The Spanish electricity grid has the capability to take on several million Electric Vehicles with smart-charging systems, thus becoming more cost-effective.

Car manufacturers are making huge efforts to develop new technologies to improve vehicle efficiency and reduce environmental emissions. The appearance of High-Density Lithium-Ion batteries has extended the cruising range of electric vehicles. Nowadays the electrification of the vehicle motion system has different degrees: hybrid electric vehicles (HEV), PHEV (Plug-in Electric Vehicles), EREV (Extended Range Electric Vehicles) and BEV (Battery Electric Vehicles).

All these technologies have been proven to be more efficient than vehicles with combustion engines.
