This initiative forms part of the SME Energy CheckUp project funded by the European Commission and in which Spain, Italy, the Netherlands and Poland are collaborating. In Spain, CIRCE, the business information and network creation centre, in conjunction with the Aragon Council of Chambers of Commerce & Industry, will help 1,500 SMEs from the hotel sector reduce their energy bill.
The first meeting of the project took place at the end of October 2014 at CIRCE’s head office to identify the possible energy savings that could be achieved by SMEs in the hotel and catering sector including hotels, commercial establishments and offices. Professionals from the seven participating partners in Spain, Italy, Poland and the Netherlands travelled to Zaragoza where they worked on improving an already existing tool to adapt it to the national criteria of each country in which it is being implemented, thereby achieving more accurate data at European level.
Furthermore, the tool includes a library of energy saving measures and an assistance module for any SMEs interested in the implementation of such measures. This module will be developed by approved suppliers and experts within the scope of the project.
